School Readiness

In light of the current situation and with us preparing for the possible reopening of nursery from 1st June we wanted to post a bit about the importance of school readiness for our pre-school children.

With the children having been away from setting for a prolonged period of time the transition to school could unsettling for some. By returning to nursery as soon as is safe to do so this will help the the children adapt to structure and routine once again.

They will be able to play and interact with peers and adults again and practice key skills needed for the transition into school including their independance, physical and emotional skills they have developed over the last few months.

Nursery will provide as many different opportunities for play as possible in a stimulating environment. Talking, listening and chatting are all important too, as well as reading stories and looking at picture books. Lots of opportunities to socialise with children of different ages will also help them adapt to the environment once again
